In this post I am going to explore the foundation of the empowered masculine and why it has been lost.
So what is the foundational virtue of the empowered masculine?
Unshakable Certainty.
Not rigid, stiff, inflexible immature certainty… but an inner embodied certainty.
Because before anything else the empowered masculine must trust himself with conviction and confidence.
This gives him the stability to fully be in the world.
To be in his power. To meet the uncertain and unstable world. To stand up for his family and what he believes. To risk failure and destruction of himself, his ideals and his creations. To be in his highest frequency of creator and King. To have the courage to love wholeheartedly. To admit his mistakes, learn and grow.
This unshakable certainty comes before love, self love and the love for others.
Now.... this might seem contrary to your beliefs right now.
And that is ok... stick with me.
I invite you to think about this for a moment.... Maslow's Hierarchy of needs describes the hierarchy of our needs as human beings. It goes like this...
1. Physiological Needs - such as food, water, shelter, sex. 2. Safety Needs - Security & security of resources, family, home. 3. Love and Belonging.
It doesn't matter if you have all the love in the world as human being... you are going to die if you don't have food, water and shelter.
Now you might be thinking.... this might have been appropriate thousands of years ago... but this isn't relevant now...
Well....
We are still more animal than we would like to believe.
We are still driven by our basic desires and needs.... our desire to eat and f*ck.
And for men this is wired to protect, provide and create. This is part of our nature.
This then creates the safety for love and belonging.
If a man can't walk in the world with certainty and self belief... He will feel lost, depressed and apathetic. No matter how much 'love' he has in his life.
So why has this virtue been lost.
It has been lost with the loss of initiations. From boys to men.
Initiation from the mother’s love, or the lack of love, into his own strength and connection with the world. A world that inherently challenges a man's sense of self, his direction and his inner connection.
This has been lost as our society has shifted and grown and to be honest, sadly, much of this world is wary of empowered, self determined men, but this is a topic for another time.
Now, I am not discounting the need for self love and work around opening the heart.
I am highlighting the need for men to work with their hesitancy around conviction. And to find a new way to be certain and unshakable that incorporates heart connection. A man’s way.
Most men are not drawn to the personal development industry for a reason.
There is another way.
A way that grounds and connects a man into his power while connecting him with his masculine heart.
This is the type of man that men aspire to be. And women aspire to be with.
We need strong, connected, empowered men.
It is time.
